History of Murray Family Farms

We haven't Stopped Growing!

Murray Family Farms began 20 years ago when Steve and Vickie Murray purchased a small ranch in rural Kern County. Today, their 360-acre farm produces the most flavorful varieties of cherries, tree fruit, grapes, brambles, and truck crops, ranging from heirloom tomatos to pineapple watermelons.

Located in the southern end of California's Great Central Valley, the area offers a rich history, a long growing season and the rich fertile soil necessary to produce an abundance of fresh fruits and vegetables.

For many years, the family marketed direct to consumers through farmers markets on the Central Coast and in Southern California where their early season, flavorful cherries were in high demand. In 2001, they opened their first onsite fruit stand and they haven't stopped growing.

Currently, Murray Family Farms grows fond memories and delicious fruit through two "Farm Direct Market"  locations.  Because the stores are located on the South and East end of the valley, many travelers have become Family Farm Fanatics.

The Murrays are busy and still learning the best way to deliver ripe fruit to our customers. The season has now become year-round with the establishment of our beautiful indoor markets.

Farm livin' is exciting, marked by a new theme every Octoberfest.  School tours have increased to 7,000 students annually.  It's wonderful to make pies from our own fruit.  Greeting smiling faces from Kern County and all around the world is fabulous farmin.'
